Iran Declares It May Rejoin American Nuclear Talks if Treated with 'Dignity' and 'Honor'

Iran is willing to reinitiate nuclear negotiations with Washington provided that it is approached with "respect" and "respect", Iran's foreign minister has stated.

Abbas Araghchi said solely negotiations produced results, and revealed fresh requests had originated from mediators to reopen talks with the US government. He said Iran did not have secret atomic facilities, and Iran had not yet reached a point to allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to inspect bombed nuclear sites for safety concerns.

Navigating a Complex Route

The foreign minister is walking a difficult path since Iran wishes not to be seen to be acting from a situation of vulnerability, and he emphatically stated that Iran had come out stronger defensively and mentally from the joint assault on its atomic facilities in June.

He was addressing at a strategic meeting in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an inalienable right to refine atomic fuel within its borders that it will perpetually retain" โ€“ the primary cause of the stalemate in the earlier negotiations.

Earlier Discussions Abruptly Terminated

The prior phases of talks between the United States and Iran were brought to an abrupt and bitter termination on 12 June when Israel, with US support, attacked Iranian nuclear sites in a fortnight-long engagement that culminated with the US president claiming the facilities had been eliminated. Subsequently, EU nations used their right to restore UN-wide sanctions, but Iran maintains they have not had a significant effect.

Ideal Resolution Proposed

Iran's diplomats stated they felt they had achieved a "perfect agreement" to the enrichment issue in previous talks, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with American involvement could refine atomic fuel. The two nations would have been able to declare success since local refinement would have remained and the US could be confident that Iran's enrichment initiative was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been settled in the discussions that American atomic experts could function inside Iran, but that was a natural consequence of the partnership suggestion. Representatives claimed repeatedly they had reached agreement with Washington's diplomat the American negotiator only for the deal to disintegrate due to "detractors in America".

Present Status

Tehran representatives stated the cooperative arrangement was now no longer available, but it seems very probable the suggestion could be revived in various formats if negotiations resume.

The American leader in recent days said he had been receiving messages that Iran wanted to restart talks, but in private Iranian officials state they are not yet obtaining coherent offers from the United States either explicitly or from important Middle Eastern intermediaries, such as the Qatari government, the Egyptian leadership, the Omani authorities and Saudi Arabia. The Iranian foreign ministry has been criticized of inactivity in the face of the US president's straightforward manner, but Tehran says diplomacy is not part of a performance.

Negotiating Standpoint

In his address to the gathering, aimed to depict the US as a hegemonic power that abuses the concept of international law, Araghchi declared the 12-day war revealed the conflict could not be settled by combat operations. He stated the attacks began with a US demand for an unconditional Iranian surrender and culminated with an unconditional call for a ceasefire.

Iran is assured the first strikes by Israel were carried out with complete American awareness and coordination, making confidence hard to rebuild.

Negotiations Continues the Primary Solution

Araghchi declared: "Tehran was not the one that had deserted diplomacy; it was the United States and the Western nations that had always tried to impose their demands during the talks. Negotiations can still be active and stays the ultimate resolution to resolve disagreements, but its standards, guidelines and principles must be adhered to."

"In case they address to the nation of Iran with the approach of respect and respect, they will get a response in the equivalent language."

Repair and Rebuilding

In what is described by Tehran representatives as the conflict of repair and rebuilding, Araghchi stated he was confident Iran's defence capabilities "have significantly improved than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been rebuilt. We acquired numerous insights from this conflict; we have identified our own weaknesses and the shortcomings of the opponent."

He stated: "We managed to survive this war. Our nuclear technology, which they aimed to destroy, stays intact. The sites and equipment, if eliminated, will be restored; what is crucial is the resolve of the citizens of Tehran and then the national cohesion that they sought to undermine, but were unable to break. The nation of Iran have become more powerful, more united, and more endorsing of the leadership and the nation in the wake of this assault."
