The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with songs about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator commented recently. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
