Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a nasty place.
  • The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
